Sycamore class were meant to be going on their 5 day residential this year but unfortunately due to current circumstances it was cancelled. We wanted to mark what would have been a fun week of activities so we devised a 'Virtual residential'. Each day we took on a new challenge based on the activities we would have been getting up to had we gone away.
The first day we would have set up our sleeping arrangements so we challenged the class to build shelters - lots even spent the night in them! The second day we would have gone rafting so the challenge was to build a raft to float in your sink! On the third day we would have been climbing and abseiling and Miss McNicol had a go at climbing her lawn whilst the children climbed a variety of other things! On Thursday, we were going to try sailing so we challenged the children to build a sail craft that they could blow across the floor - teamwork and technology helped! Lastly, on the Friday to celebrate the end of our virtual residential Miss McNicol delivered certificates, a memento rubber duck and a few treats to each child. The children got to personalise their ducks and they got very creative! Whilst it wasn't the same as going away, a fun week was had and memories made.
